I made it! I did it!

If you're receiving this in your email, and you've been subscribed to the blog for a while now, you may notice a bit of a difference in the email itself. See, I spent last week working on something that I've wanted to do for a long time now—build a website for my blog. I've used a handful of different blogging platforms to house Carissa's Chronicles, but I've come to realize that in my years of writing, that each of these platforms is just that—a platform. It could go under at any time. Google's Blogger could become obsolete, Substack could cease to function, and I know that even the platform I'm using to host my website could go down (not obsolete, it hosts millions upon millions of websites, but could definitely go down during an internet outage).

I've been wanting to delve into crafting a website for my blog for a long time. I've been interested in crafting a website for a long time! Years ago, myself and a friend thought it would be a great idea to forage for wild berries, freeze them into popsicles and sell them. This never happened. We made popsicles, sure, but never got around to selling them, much less building a website to advertise and sell them on there, which is what we were planning. We were kids, don't ask. Logic doesn't exactly translate well into childhood dreams and aspirations. Where were we going to store them? How would we ship them? With what materials? Anyway, it never happened.

Looking back at myself from that time, I am proud to say that it finally happened. Not in the way that I imagined, but still! I made it! I did it! I finally achieved one of my long-term goals! I'm bound to run into some bugs and issues, for sure, but I'm ready to handle them if it means having my own home for my blog. I've already run into a few snags, but I'm thoroughly enjoying having my own space.
